Five Reasons Why You Should Watch Hulu's Abbott Elementary

This show is totally worth it.

How many of us are a sucker for good Black shows? I am for one! From Empire to All American to Grownish to Everybody hates Chris and some which I can’t remember, I really enjoy black shows because why not? Anyways, I watched Abbott Elementary not too long ago and I very much enjoyed it. Here are five good reasons you should watch it too.

1.     It celebrates Teachers- One of the reasons why I loved Abbott Elementary was that it gave teachers their long deserved flowers. It’s not every time we get to see a show that portrays the genuine love teachers have for their students and the extra mile they would go for them. From Barbara to Melissa to Janine to Jacob and to Gregory and even Ava, they all deserve great accolades.

2.     It is funny and Sarcastic- If you’re a fan of Black Americans humour, you’ll love this show. I was always laughing at each episode. Goshh!! From Ava lines to Janine enthusiasm and Jacob’s cluelessness. Let’s not forget about Gregory’s facial expressions. I feel like that deserves a special episode. To be honest.

3.     It talks about Real life situations- As a Nigerian, I don’t really relate to a lot of American TV shows but Abbott Elementary changed that. For instance, when new rugs were needed in the classrooms and the teachers couldn’t get funds for it and also the lack of standard facilities in the school reminded me of the state of public schools in our country. I would love to see more Nigerian shows that depicts our educational reality.

4.     Time Duration is short- If you’re the type that don’t like a TV show episode running for an hour or more, Abbott Elementary got you. Each episode is less than 30 minutes. Fun fact- you can binge watch the entire season one in less than 7 hours!!!!

5.     The Cast is pretty small- If you’re a lover of small cast in shows and really can’t keep up with a large cast, then this show is for you. The major cast are about 6 and it’s easy to remember their names as you watch the show.
