Christmas is no doubt my favourite time of the year!
I’m always so excited about Christmas and New Year celebrations because I get to spend time with my family, eat different delicacies, buy Christmas clothes and shoes (I still do plsss😂😂😭) and detty my December a little bit😎😜 (my December is still clean at this point shaaa).

I know many of us know the essence of Christmas which includes telling the whole world about the birth of our Saviour and Messiah- Jesus Christ who is the reason for the season. And I pray that whatever it is you’ve been hoping and waiting for, as we’re celebrating the good news of Jesus birth, may you receive your expectation in Jesus name, Amen.
We celebrate Christmas every year, yet some of us including me do not know enough about Christmas. Here are ten facts about Christmas that would blow your mind. Keep reading.
1. December 25 was announced the official celebration day of Christmas in 350 A.D by the Bishop of Rome, Pope Julius I.
2. The traditional three colours of Christmas are green, red and gold. Green represents life and rebirth, Red represents the blood of Christ and gold represents wealth and royalty. This fact explains a lot regarding colours used in Christmas celebrations.
3. Sacrifice is the main theme of Christmas, it means the spirit of giving. Also, the reason we give presents at Christmas is to symbolize the gifts given to baby Jesus by the three wise men. I totally agree and can relate to this fact because during Christmas, we would always receive gifts from family and friends, food and other necessities are given to the needy. Just as God gave his only begotten son to die for us and save us.
4. Contrary to what some may think about others saying Merry Xmas in place of Merry Christmas, people say Xmas because the ‘X’ is the first letter in the Greek word for Christ.
5. The Christmas trees symbolizes the Garden of Eden and the apples hung on it (tree in the Garden of Eden) may be the origin of Christmas decorations.
6. The Holly wreath symbolizes Christ crown of thorns while the red berries are drops of his blood. There are actually different beliefs concerning the wreath. Some say it represents an unending circle of life, with no beginning and no end, a school of thought says wreaths are hung on the door to invite the spirit of Christmas to enter the home and bring good luck. Others say it embodies eternal life.
7. We all know the 12 days of Christmas song. Well, December 25 to January 5 is actually referred to as ‘Christmastide’ or ’12 holy days’
8. There are two islands in the world that are named Christmas. One is in the Indian Ocean and it’s close to Australia and Indonesia while the other is in the Pacific Ocean and is part of the Republic of Kiritimati.
9. One thousand copies of the first Christmas card was sold in 1843. Wow!!! That’s a lot.😮😮 Even till today, Christmas remains the largest card sending holiday in the world.
10. One in every three people worldwide celebrate Christmas, including 2.4 billion Christians. That’s a lot of people!!!
