So I wrote my first exams in Medical School.....

How did they go?

Hi there🤗 welcome to another blog post from LamLam, I hope this meets you well. In today’s post, I’ll be ranting about my concluded exams in medical school. Honestly, I didn’t plan on talking about my exams and how they went here but I kept having a nudge to talk about it. So, how did my exams go?

We thank God!!! I know this is not a precise answer but I thank the name of the Lord that I’m still alive and breathing after writing my CBD/IBS exams😂😂 (though I’ve rested properly now, we finished 27^th of April).

For me, the exams weren’t great and they weren’t bad too. Just in the middle. The way the exams went was very different from how I had thought it was going to be. Well, our CBD/IBS exams were not regular and the school used a different approach in some areas.

So back to my exams….

I wrote my Anatomy exam first- MCQs and theory. And after the exam, I felt bad myself. It was as if I was feeling bad for the person that wrote that exam (this was me btw), like LamLam the storyteller was feeling bad for Olamide the student. But thankfully, they got better- I preferred my Biochemistry to my Anatomy and I preferred my Physiology to my Biochemistry.

Then we wrote practicals- steeplechase for Anatomy. For non-medical students, steeplechase is when students are asked to identify microscopic slides, bones, practical equipment, micrographs and the likes.

The students are expected to answer questions asked about the object placed in front of them and a bell is rung every 30 seconds where the students are mandated to move to the next question either in front or behind them. Then for Physiology and Medical Biochemistry, we wrote alternative to practicals.

I remember cramming some last minute stuff few minutes before my Physiology practical and I saw questions on what I crammed but guess what- I totally forgot😭😭😂😂😂 (if you have any tips on cramming effectively at the last minute, please share it in the comments, help a sister😭😭).

I was telling a friend that after the CBD/IBS exam, they should just give me my certificate because God knows I went through a lot!!! And I still have a long way to go, our Comprehensive exams which is a promotional exam would be written at the end of 200 level and they’re still a lot of exams I would write as long as I’m medical school so I might as well just get used to it.

Anyways, what have I been up to since my last paper?

1.     I’ve been restingggggg!!! A lot actually😂😂 and I have things to read. Most days I’m like God, when would my suffering end??

2.     For a month now I started using Spotify premium for students and I’m enjoying my experience so far. A friend and I were arguing on Twitter about which is better between Spotify and Apple music. I was Team Spotify and he was Team Apple music. The main thing I like about is its playlist feature. I’m a person that gets bored of songs easily and Spotify helps in bringing different songs under the same genre together.

3.     I think I’m turning into a Yoruba aunty😂 I started listening to Yinka Ayefele, King Sunny Ade and a lot of Gospel Tungba songs lately and I’m glad that as a Yoruba girl, I understand the language and I can groove to Yoruba songs. When I was younger, I wondered why they played those songs at Owanbes but now I get it.

4.     May is my favourite month of the year and I’ll be turning 21 on the 31^st😛😝😝💃💃It’s really paining me that I’d have to wait 10 more years to do ‘31^st on the 31^st😭😭’ but at least I can do she’s 21 and sexyyy💃💃🥂 but then, I have lectures that day😭😭
